Although the 2012 Democratic National Convention is in full swing with powerful speeches by First Lady Michelle Obama, U.S. House Candidate Tammy Duckworth, Lilly Ledbetter and Sandra Fluke in the first two nights alone, we think it is important and fair to recap the “highlights” of the 2012 Republican National Convention:
1) Who can forget Ann Romney’s speech, where she talked about the challenge of raising her large family, asking us to take a softer look at Mitt Romney: “Tonight, I want to talk to you from my heart about our hearts. I want to talk not about what divides us, but what holds us together as an American family… I want to talk to you about love…” She then went on to discuss middle class issues.
2) Paul Ryan made claims to say the current President breaks promises (based on some events before President Obama’s election) but his attempt to discredit Obama backfired. Ryan claimed that Mr. Obama made a promise during his first campaign that a particular Wisconsin GM plant would be saved, and that it then shut down “on President Obama’s watch”. The President (then only a candidate) had only said he would fight for the plant if elected. Besides that, news came out shortly thereafter that the plant was actually already almost completely closed in 2008- under President Bush’s term.
3) Actor Clint Eastwood interviewed “invisible Obama,” aka a chair. ‘Nuff said.
So, LivLunatics, what do you think? Did we miss something?
