planning my baby’s first birthday was so fun! her birthday theme was a winter wonderland Russian tea party, because i’m half Russian, and she was born in the winter. so yes, she is a snow princess, but luckily still unaware of Frozen, so i could keep it Disney-free, albeit the color scheme was very much Frozen, with an abundance of cream, teal, and blue, amidst pops of color. i hate to say i had a flat stomach before i had a baby, but i did, i really did. and i didn’t even do sit-ups. i had a strong core from doing yoga, eating healthy, running, and trying on lots of useless, uncomfortable shoes, but then i had a very large baby, and my stomach muscles separated from being so far stretched. i didn’t even know this could happen. i wanted to have a smash cake photoshoot while we were visiting with my sister in law over Thanksgiving, so she could take pictures, because she’s a fabulous photographer and i wanted her to be a part of it, because she wasn’t going to be here for her niece’s 1st Birthday. at the same time, i wanted to keep it simple, without cheesy props, and i wanted the cake and icing to be organic, and without artificial dyes. i’m super pleased with how it turned out!
