Name: Alden W.
Location: New York, NY
Diet: Organic, local as much as possible, no dairy or red meat, minimal sugar and bread. (Basically, as close to the paleo diet as possible while not being insufferable.)
Exercise: I walk to work every day and live in a fourth floor walk up. I practice vinyasa yoga once a week. I would like to start running again and get out my bike!
Describe your body image: I’m sexy! I used to really hate on my body in college, but now I love my curves (and men love them too.) It’s harder during the summer to keep this in mind, since jean shorts are just not flattering on me. But overall I feel pretty good about where I am.
When you look in the mirror, do you have automatic negative thoughts? Not usually. I do check myself out every morning, and kind of use my stomach as a barometer of how I’m doing that day. (I know I’m not the only one.) Usually I’m pretty happy with what I see, and only have negative thoughts when I see how other, skinnier woman look in those damn jean shorts!
What does your dream body FEEL like? Like the body I had the summer I was training like a fiend for varsity college field hockey. It was strong, firm, and my stomach was flat! I’ll probably never be there, because, you know, I have a job and stuff which means I can’t spend three hours a day working out. But now I know what my best me looks like, which is nice.
