Pangea Organics Facial Scrub + Mask Review

As LivLuna’s Founder you know I’m obsessed with trying out and researching the safest, most natural, effective, and affordable skincare, beauty and makeup products.

One of the brands I have been using for a few years has been Pangea Organics. Their products are organic, cruelty free, fair trade, and without petroleum, sulfates & detergents, synthetic preservatives, artifical colors & fragrances and GMOs. Plus they smell yummy & are super effective!

The EWG’s SkinDeep Cosmetics Database lists Pangea’s products as very safe- ranked 0-2, and my goal is to use only beauty products that rank between 0-3, so Pangea scores!

Pangea sent me two of their best-selling products to review and giveaway to two LivLunatics- these are going to be part of a mega organic skincare giveaway coming up VERY soon!!!

I’m a packaging dork, as in, yes I do in part judge products by their branding, their logo, their colors, packaging etc, and Pangea appeals to my urban hippie chic aesthetic. They come in plantable seed boxes, and these tubes are an earthy elegant brown with delicious pastel cream colors and nice font 🙂

But above all, I refuse to spend money on beauty brands that trick and disempower women with photoshopped ads and are full of dangerously toxic chemicals, petroleum products and lies. Why should I poison my body when I can instead find products that are good for me and much more effective?

Pangea Organics Facial Scrub- Egyptian Geranium with Adzuki Bean & Cranberry

This dual action scrub polishes the skin’s surface without disrupting its delicate balance. Enzymatic exfoliants work to dissolve expired skin cells while mechanical exfoliants gently free them up to be rinsed away. Raw, ground-up adzuki bean has been used in skin preparations for centuries in Japan. It provides gentle, manual exfoliation while its astringent properties help clarify and tighten pores. Both cranberry seed and geranium oil offer skin-brightening attributes, which assist with reducing hyper-pigmentation (dark spots due to sun exposure and past acne breakouts). The food-based ingredients in this Scrub nourish the skin with antioxidants that scavenge free-radicals and optimize cellular function, resulting in more radiant skin and increased cell turnover. Never harsh or drying, this Scrub may be used on all skin types. It is suitable for daily or weekly enjoyment.’

The texture is nice and soft and grainy, not harsh and abrasive, like the scarring Apricot Scrub I used to use in high school… it smells deliciously of exotic fruits and scents and organic opulence. Decide to exfoliate other body parts. So far so good. Afterwards, my skin feels like i’ve been to a spa- refreshed, clearer, more even-toned, softer, gently exfoliated and scrubbed clean, without scarring or irritation.

I now keep this scrub in my shower and use it all the time- sometimes at my sink as my nighttime facewash- it’s gentle enough to use every day, which I love, because I can get rid of all the gross sweatiness of NYC summers and any pollution lurking in my pores or makeup/product build up.

mini cons: I’m not wild about the initial faint whiff of lavender alcohol, because I don’t drink and avoid alcohol, but for most people this would not be an issue, and I love the overall smell so it’s not a big deal. Also, I feel like I use quite a bit of the product each time, and would go through the tube quite fast, especially if you use it almost every day, so not super cost effective.

Pangea Organics Facial Mask – Japanese Matcha Tea with Acai and Goji Berry

This multi-award-winning mask embodies the essence of our approach to Ecocentric Skincare. Green and white clays work together to restore, balance, cleanse and detoxify; four sea vegetables re-mineralize, hydrate and oxygenate; sugarcane serves to exfoliate, unclog pores and support the skin’s natural production of elastin and collagen; acai and goji berry extracts lend their extraordinary super-powers as antioxidants, functioning as revitalizing “super-food”; jojoba and sunflower seed oils nourish and moisturize; three teas are employed in both whole leaf and extract forms to ensure maximum potency for antioxidant, restorative and energizing effects; and a harmonious blend of extremely concentrated herbal extracts and essential oils further nurture the skin and senses.

This mask is a six-time beauty award winner, and I can see why. I really loved what it did to my skin. I felt like it was really working all its super antioxidant superfood ingredients into my skin, and my skin looked like I’d just had a facial (minus red extractions), it was smoother, tightened, and clarified. My combo skin pores were declogged without being dried out, and it even seemed like fine lines were moisturized and minimized.

The texture is chunky ground up earth- green brown and grainy, and it dries on your skin after about 10 minutes, depending on how thick you put it on. I put it on my neck and decollete as well. In removing this mask, you end up rubbing the grainy dried substance into your skin and exfoliating it, so it really acts like a scrub as well, so if you’re on a budget and only want a scrub once a week, you could use this as a 2 in 1, which makes it quite cost effective.

mini cons: Best to put it on before your shower, and rinse it off in there before shampooing, so you get the granules out of your hairline and neck. Trying to wash it off at the sink will create a major towel mess. Same issue with slight smell of alcohol initially.

Note to Pangea: Please start creating Essential Oil Perfume mixes! I’m always looking for natural perfume that uses essential oils and mixes them in delicious combinations, as I’ve become intolerant of chemical perfume
